Multiple intelligences and academic performance in university students in Huancayo, 2015

Abstract

This research identified the multiple intelligences and associated the predominant intelligence with academic performance from students of the Faculty of Engineering of Continental University. The nature of the research is a descriptive - correlational - variety, explicative and not experimental; the sample of 800 students from 1st to 10th cycle apply the multiple intelligences test of Gardner. Students of Environmental Engineering with higher academic performance, interpersonal intelligence prevailed in 19,05%; in the case of students of Civil Engineering with higher academic performance, verbal intelligence prevailed in a 17,81%; in students studying Electrical Engineering, the kinesthetic intelligence prevailed in 17,32%; in students of Industrial Engineering, interpersonal intelligence prevailed in a 19,50%; students in career Mining Engineering, interpersonal intelligence prevailed in 18,93%, and the systems engineering students prevailed interpersonal intelligence in 17,85%. It was determined that there is a significant correlation between interpersonal intelligence and academic achievement in the career of Environmental Engineering (r = 0,234); There is also a significant correlation between verbal intelligence and academic performance of students of Civil Engineering (r = 0,288).
