Abstract

The goal of the study was to determine the relationship between psychomotricity, and introduction to writing variables in 5 year-old children of kindergarten from Shipibo communities in the Ucayali region in 2014. The methods used were: descriptive, synthetic analytical and deductive hypothetical. The design was cross non-experimental of correlational level. The population was represented by 310 children 5 years old from kindergarten of the Shipibo communities from Ucayali region in 2014. The sampling was probabilistic and stratified, and was composed of 172 children. For the psychomotricity measurement, a standardized instrument based on Wallon (1978) was used, and for the introduction to writing it was based on Valles (1998); both were validated. As a result, we can mention that the psychomotricity variable had a mean score of 71.87, and the introduction to writing variable had one of 53.26; the median in the first case was 73.00 and 56.00 in the second; the maximum score in the first case was 82.00 and in the second 57; regarding the minimum score, the first was 58, 00 and the second 36, 00. Spearman’s rho was used at 5% significance level for hypothesis testing. To conclude, we determined that there is a direct and significant relationship between psychomotricity and introduction to writing variables in 5 year-old children of kindergarten from the Shipibo communities.
