Abstract

Learning analytics refers to collecting, measuring, analyzing, and reporting data from people in learning environments. It usually seeks to improve learning processes in human-computer interactions. Multimodal learning analytics extends the approach to human-human interactions using sensor data. Technological advances and the greater demand for workers with diverse professional skills, such as leadership or the ability to work in a team, have increased research in this area in recent years. Chile is the Latin American country with the highest growth in research and development in this line in the last five years. This work presents a systematic review of the advances in multimodal analytics made in Chile from the point of view of the modalities considered (e.g., image, audio, video) and the types of sensors used to measure them, the types of activities used, analysis techniques, products obtained, and existing collaboration networks. We aim to deliver a broad, updated vision of the state of the art of multimodal learning analytics in Chile as a relevant actor in this line at the Latin American level.
