Abstract

University rankings have gained prominence in educational and strategic decision-making. In Peru, Sunedu presented the III Biennial Report on the university reality, which analyzes variables such as scientific production, but omits relevant factors such as teaching quality, infrastructure, and international cooperation, among others. This study seeks to evaluate the scientific production of Peruvian universities in 2023 based on the number of teachers and publications in Scopus. The research included 92 public and private universities licensed by Sunedu, excluding those without recent data on teachers. The scientific capacity components of Nagpaul and Santanu were used, focusing on human capital (number of teachers) and publications in 2023. For this, Scopus was used, limiting the search to Peru. The score for each university was calculated by multiplying the number of publications by the quotient between publications and teachers, ordering the results in descending order.
