Are University Graduates Prepared for the World of Artificial Intelligences?
Abstract
Given the vertiginous advance of artificial intelligence, as several countries are already doing, to implement state policies aimed at training the population for better use of these specialized tools. This is where educational centers and, particularly, universities must question their mission in training professionals prepared to keep up with the fast and constant advances in the technological world, a situation that should motivate the modification of current program contents and pedagogical models. It is observed, then, that universities must prepare their students to face an environment where new elements emerge that sometimes present self-organization, there is a diversity of components, as well as sudden and constant changes. In summary, it is necessary for students to not only know the concepts related to complex systems and the sciences of complexity but also to incorporate these concepts into their daily activities. For this, curricula should be approached as complex systems involving inter, trans, and multidisciplinarity, always bearing in mind that "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts".
